More than 58,000 foreigners working in Maldives

Number of foreigners working in various jobs in had risen to more than 58,000.
Statistics revealed by Ministry of Higher Education, Employment and Social Security shows that 58502 foreigners were working in by the end of last April.
Most foreigners are working in the tourism industry and the construction industry.

19777 foreigners work in the construction industry while the number of foreigners working in the tourism industry is 11486. More than 6000 foreigners are involved in businesses and other activities while more than 5000 work at houses and other jobs. From these, most works in cafes and restaurants. This includes more than 3000 foreigners. 2000 foreigners are working in the education sector while more than 1500foreigners are involved in the fishing industry. 

When looked by both sexes, most foreigners are from which is more than 23000. Second comes to Indian which is 21000 while more than 7000 Sri Lankans work here. Statistics show that more than 1000 Nepalese are also working here.
